Overview
At present, there are 152 faculty members in the College of Foreign Languages, including 20 professors and 46 associate professors. The college has English Department, Japanese Department, European Languages Department, Chinese International Education Department, MTI Education Center, College English Teaching Department and provides five majors for undergraduate, including English, Japanese, Translation, Chinese International Education and Hungarian. In addition, the college has the right to grant the first-class discipline master’s degree in Foreign Languages and Literature, master’s degree in MTI and master’s degree in Chinese International Education. There are 828 undergraduates and 177 postgraduates in the college right now. The average employment rate of graduates in recent three years is 94.58%. Every year, dozens of students are accepted by well-known universities at home and abroad for further study.
The college boasts more than 20,000 domestic and foreign books and references, as well as CAT training room, simultaneous interpretation laboratory, language development and cognition laboratory, digital language laboratory and multimedia language laboratory. There are more than 10 provincial postgraduate training practice bases and undergraduate teaching practice bases in the college, and it also has contacts with institutions of higher education in Britain, the United States, Russia, Australia, Japan and Hungary, and also has built academic exchange mechanisms with universities such as Lincoln University in the United Kingdom, Toyo University in Japan, Tomsk State University in Russia and University of Pécs in Hungary.
College English, Comprehensive English, Theory and Practice of Translation are provincial excellent courses; English major was rated as a key development discipline in Hebei Province in 2009; the college was rated as an Innovation Highland of undergraduate foreign languages education in Hebei Province in 2010; International Conference English was rated as provincial model course for graduate students in 2017. In the past three years, the faculties of the School have been approved 12 provincial level scientific research projects, have received 6 government research achievement awards, have published164 papers and 16 academic monographs, and 36 of them have won awards in various provincial academic competitions.
