Historical Evolution
College of Mechanical Engineering of North China University of Science and Technology now has six undergraduate programs after more than 60 years of construction and development: Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation, Industrial Design, Industrial Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Process Equipment and Control Engineering, and Vehicle Engineering. Among them, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation is a national characteristic specialty and offers a China-German cooperative training program for bachelors. The first-level discipline of Mechanical Engineering has been authorized to grant master’s degrees. The college now has 16 professors, 33 associate professors and 28 teachers with doctorate degrees.
The college adheres to the close combination of teaching and research. It has formed its own characteristic research direction in the fields of mechanical dynamics, robots and mechatronics integration, advanced manufacturing, electric vehicles, micro-nano processing, friction wear and lubrication and so on. In recent years, the faculty members have undertaken 75 research projects and published more than 400 scientific research papers, including more than 50 papers indexed by SCI, EI and ISTP. And 148 patents have been granted, including 20 invention patents. They also have published 18 works, 5 monographs and acquired 2 municipal science and technology progress awards.
The college has been constantly strengthening the construction of laboratories and research platforms to provide good learning and research conditions for training talents and conducting scientific research, including the Research Institute of Industrial Robot Industry and Technology of Hebei Province, the Key Laboratory of Electric Automobile of Tangshan, the Key Laboratory of Mechanical and Electrical Products’ Innovation and Design, the Research Center of Advanced Manufacturing, The Laboratory of Micro-nano Processing, the Testing Laboratory of Mechanical Vibration and the Engineering Training Center.
The college focuses on the cultivation of senior professionals, strengthening the quality of talents training, engineering practice and innovation ability, and comprehensively improving students’ quality. The average employment rate of graduates in the past 3 years has reached more than 93%. Our alumni are widely welcomed and praised by all walks of life all over the country.
