College of Metallurgy and Energy
Overview
College of Metallurgy and Energy began its undergraduate education in 1958 and postgraduate education in 1985. Metallurgical Engineering became a first-level discipline authorized for doctoral degrees in 2013 and the first doctoral students were recruited then. At present, there are 97 faculty members, including 33 professors, 25 associate professors, 25 doctoral supervisors, 60 master supervisors, 3 receiving special allowances from the State Council, 1 member of the Academic Review Panel of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, and 3 members of the Ministry of Education, 2 National Natural Science Foundation experts, 1 Yan-Zhao scholar, 1 national grade for the “Talents Project in the New Century”, 5 Provincial level Prominent teacher, 4 Provincial -administered experts, and 16 candidates for the “333 Talent Project” in Hebei Province. There are 3 Academic society, 10 Bilateral appointed academicians and foreign professors, and 84% of them have got doctor’s degree. The college has established long-term cooperation with famous domestic enterprises such as Shougang Jingtang Iron and Steel United Co. , Ltd. , Tangshan Iron and Steel Co., HanDan Iron and Steel Company, Shijiazhuang Iron and Steel Company, Chengde Iron and Steel Company, Xuanhua Iron and Steel Company, Xingtai Iron and Steel Company, China Datang Corporation, Chengde Thermal Power Group Co. , Ltd. , Great Wall Automobile Co. , Ltd. , Rizhao Iron and Steel Holding Group Co. , Ltd. , and Xining Special Steel Group Co. , Ltd.
At present, there are 5 undergraduate majors including Metallurgical Engineering, Metal Materials Engineering, Material Forming and Control Engineering, Energy and Power Engineering, and Renewable Energy Science and Engineering. Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics are first-level disciplines authorized for master’s degree in engineering; there are 3 master’s degree authorized fields for Metallurgical Engineering, Power Engineering, and Materials Engineering; Metallurgical Engineering and Metal Material Engineering are national specialty deciplines; Metallurgical Engineering is a world-class construction discipline in Hebei Province; steel metallurgy and Material Processing Engineering are key disciplines in Hebei Province, and military key material disciplines are national defense disciplines.
The college equips with the National Teaching Team of Metallurgical Engineering, the National Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center of Metallurgical Engineering, the Ministry of Modern Metallurgical Technology Education and the key laboratory of Hebei Province, the research center of high quality steel continuous casting engineering technology of Hebei Province, the Cooperative Innovation Center of “key technologies of energy saving and emission reduction in steel industry” of Hebei Province, and the Innovation Team of Hebei giant project.
In recent years, it has won 2 national second-class awards for scientific and technological progress, 25 provincial and ministerial awards for scientific and technological progress, and 13 provincial awards for outstanding teaching achievements; there has been 61 national-level projects, such as the National Natural Science Fund and seventy-two provincial and ministerial-level projects like the provincial natural science fund. With a goal of cultivating talents, the college deeping liberal education, and makes a promotion in an annual student entrance examination rate of over thirty percent and a one-time contract signing rate of over ninty percent. It has won more than 60 state-level awards in national competitions for school students’ scientific and technological innovation, energy conservation and emission reduction, network simulation of steel-making and metallographic skills, and was successively awarded as the Advanced Employment Unit of Hebei Province and the innovative learning-type advanced collective of Hebei Province, providing a large number of innovative spirit of advanced engineering technology and management personnel for the Enterprise. |
