College of Mining Engineering
Overview
College of Mining Engineering was founded in 1958 and developed as Mine Department. In 1959, the Department of Mines and Metallurgy of Tianjin University (formerly known as the Mineralogy Department of Beiyang Western Learning School founded in 1895) was incorporated into the college, and the specialty of mines and mineral was incorporated into the Mine Department. The college used to name as Mine Department, Department of Resource Engineering, Department of Resources and Environment, then it named as the College of Resources and Environment in 2010.
The college has 150 full-time and part-time faculties, including 35 professors, 46 associate professors, 15 doctoral supervisors and 97 teachers with doctoral degrees. At present, there are more than 2200 undergraduates, graduates and doctoral students studying at the college.
The college offers one doctorate degree program: Mining Engineering authorized first-level discipline; three master degree programs: Mining Engineering authorized first-level disciplines, Safety Science and Engineering, Geological Resources and Geological Engineering; one master degree programs authorized second-level discipline: Geodesy and Surveying Engineering; one professional master degree programs: Resource and Environmental Engineering. Mining engineering is a provincial key discipline.

l safety engineering
l petroleum engineering
Mining engineering is a national comprehensive reform pilot major and a first-class construction discipline in Hebei Province. While Mineral processing engineering is a provincial comprehensive reform pilot major in Hebei.
The college has an integrated platform for scientific research and teaching experiments, 2,395 sets of experimental equipment with a total value of more than 75 million RMB Yuan and a laboratory area of 10,000 square meters. It has provincial key laboratory of mines development and safety technology of Hebei Province, industrial technology research institute of ecological restoration of mining area of Hebei Province, and collaborative innovation center for efficient mining and utilization of metal mineral resources of Hebei Province. At the same time, it has scientific research and teaching platforms such as national inorganic non-metallic materials experimental teaching demonstration center, provincial experimental teaching demonstration center of surveying and mapping engineering, provincial experimental teaching demonstration of mineral processing engineering center.
With discipline constructionas the leading role, “cultivating people with morality” as the fundamental task, and the goal of cultivating socialist builders and successors who are morally, intellectually, physically, aesthetically and laboriously developed in an all-round way, the college has carried out the school philosophy of “valuing art and regarding utility” to serve the local community”. It has cultivated more than 8,000 talents for the society, and the employment rate of graduates has maintained above 95%. In recent years, it has undertaken 201 vertical projects, including 20 at the national level, 63 at the provincial and ministerial level, and more than 300 other projects. It has won 1 Second prize of National Science and Technology Progress award, 2 first prizes in teaching achievement award of Hebei Province, and over 30 provincial and ministerial awards. It has published 634 papers, obtained 114 invention patents and 2 international invention patents.
The college pays great attention to the cultivation of students’ innovation and entrepreneurship ability, and has invested more than 1 million RMB Yuan to improve the undergraduate design innovation platform. In recent years, undergraduates have undertaken 155 innovative projects for college students, including 14 at the national level and 19 at the provincial and ministerial level. It has published more than 130 academic papers, participated in the Challenge Cup and the National College Students Practice Works Competition of various disciplines, and won more than 150 national awards.
Entering the new era, the college will earnestly study and implement the socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the Xi Jinping New Era, continue to adhere to the “cultivating people with morality” as the fundamental task, and take the responsibility of cultivating new generations who are responsible for national rejuvenation, implement the development strategy of school “Standing with specialty, Thriving with talents, Enhancing with quality”, comprehensively improve the quality of personnel training, improve college comprehensive strength and core competitiveness, and make contributions to making our school a well-known high-level comprehensive university with distinctive characteristics in China.
