Overview
College of Nursing and Rehabilitation of North China University of Science and Technology was formerly the Nursing Department of North China Coal Medical College established in 1999. It began to enroll postgraduate students in 2005 and turned into college after the merging of the two universities in 2010. Since then, the college has stepped onto the track of rapid development with remarkable achievements. At present, there are 38 staff members, including 11 professors, 13 associate professors and 5 senior laboratory teachers. Among them, 27 are full-time teachers, all with doctor's or master's degrees. There are 55 master's supervisors, 45 employed part-time teachers, and 7 domestic distinguished professors. The college has established cooperative relationship on the cultivation of outstanding talents with Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Nanjing Medical University, Medical Department of Peking University, Tianjin Medical University, West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Xiangya Medical School of Central South University, Yanbian University and other well-known domestic universities, and the cooperation with University of Pecs in Hungary to cultivate nursing professionals has been steadily promoted. At the same time, a number of relatively stable and high-level professional practice teaching bases have been built in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Changchun, Xi'an, Nanjing, Changsha, Wuhan, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Wuxi, Shijiazhuang, Tangshan and other places, providing a good platform for students' professional practice and career development.
The college has two undergraduate programs in nursing and rehabilitation therapy, and two master's degree authorization rights in nursing, rehabilitation therapy and physical therapy. The right to grant master's degree in nursing was successfully approved in September 2017. In the fourth round of national discipline assessment organized by the Academic Degree and Graduate Education Development Center of the Ministry of Education in 2017, the major of nursing has achieved excellent results, ranking in the forefront of similar specialties in China, and ranking the first in Hebei Province. It was approved as a national first-class undergraduate specialty construction point in 2019, and it is also the only approved similar specialty in Hebei Province. Nursing and rehabilitation therapy are national characteristic majors. The major of nursing is the provincial comprehensive reform pilot, with a provincial level teaching team and a provincial experimental teaching demonstration center. Rehabilitation therapy is a provincial undergraduate education innovation highland. In 2014, the college obtained the national level training qualification of nursing professional backbone teachers and successfully held the first national training class for backbone teachers of nursing. The courses named Basic Nursing and Community Nursing were awarded as excellent courses in Hebei Province. Since 2010, the college has won 1 second prize of national teaching achievement award and 13 teaching achievement awards of Hebei Province. It has won 12 provincial (ministerial) science and technology progress awards, 45 municipal science and technology awards, 30 national patents, 77 published works and teaching materials, undertaken nearly 100 national, provincial and municipal scientific research projects, and published more than 580 papers, including 407 published in key journals. Among them, 17 papers were included in three major searches. Zhang Min, a young teacher of the college, won the first prize in the Second National Young Teachers Basic Teaching Skills Competition Colleges of Nursing held in November 2016, earning great honor for the University.
The college always adheres to the innovative talent training mode with the purpose of "emphasizing solid foundation and strong ability; being highly skilled and quality-centered", and vigorously promotes the development strategy of "strengthening the College by talents, promoting the College by academic study, and prospering the College by scientific research". In the past five years, 20 students won the national scholarship, 150 won the national inspirational scholarship, 30 won the first, second and third prizes in the National College English Competition (Class C) and Clinical Nursing Skills Competition, 60 were awarded outstanding graduates of Hebei Province, and 810 were awarded the honorary titles of "Outstanding College Students". In the past three years, the average employment rate of graduates is 98.5%, and more than 80% of them are employed by tertiary hospitals and corresponding health institutions.
Nursing
Nursing was founded in 1999. It is a national characteristic specialty, a key discipline in Hebei Province and a comprehensive pilot reform major at the provincial level. The characteristic research directions of this discipline mainly include chronic diseases of the elderly, emergency and critical care, rehabilitation nursing, maternal and child health care and nursing, etc. This major is the first one in Hebei Province with the independent authorization of nursing master's degree, and excellent graduates can be directly recommended to study for master's degree without examinations. Since the establishment of the specialty, a large number of high-quality nursing undergraduate and graduate students have been trained for the society and employers, which has made great contributions to the promotion of social and economic development and health care. The college cultivates talents with high and comprehensive quality competent for the post work quickly, so these talents have been well received by the internship and employers.
Training objectives：This major aims to train students to become applied professional talents who can adapt to the needs of domestic and foreign markets, systematically master the basic theories, knowledge and skills of nursing, have certain development potential, innovative spirit and practical ability, strong clinical nursing ability, basic teaching ability, management ability and scientific research ability, and be able to engage in nursing, preventive health care, teaching and research in various medical and health care institutions and teaching units at all levels.

Rehabilitation
The major of rehabilitation therapy was established in 2004 and was rated as a National Characteristic Specialty in 2008. In the report on the evaluation of Chinese universities in 2017 published by Cuaa.Net, the major ranked second in China and was rated as a four-star major. The main characteristic research directions of Rehabilitation are neurology rehabilitation and orthopedic rehabilitation. At present, different professional directions such as children rehabilitation, mental rehabilitation, community rehabilitation, psychological rehabilitation and postpartum rehabilitation have been added. The major of rehabilitation therapy in our university is the first one in Hebei Province. Now it has the right to confer master's degree in rehabilitation medicine and physiotherapy. Excellent graduates can be recommended to study for master's degree without taking examinations. Because the graduates of this major are equipped with solid medical and rehabilitation professional knowledge and excellent clinical professional skills, they are generally welcomed by employ, showing a good employment situation where supply falls short of demand. In order to adapt to the trend of aging population, the college will appropriately expand the scale of personnel training to meet the growing health needs of people.
Training objectives：The goal of this major is to cultivate rehabilitation therapists with correct professional thinking, pragmatic and rigorous scientific attitude, humanistic care spirit, good psychological quality and strong sense of law and discipline. Also, they could master the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of modern rehabilitation therapy after receiving education. Upon graduation, these therapists will become applied talents with good professional quality, preliminary clinical rehabilitation treatment ability, innovative spirit and lifelong learning ability, and can engage in rehabilitation treatment and education.
