Overview
College of Public Health was established in 1984, formerly known as the Department of Preventive Medicine, North China Coal Medical College. Now it is the leading unit in the field of occupational health and occupational safety, and the national research center of occupational epidemiology. There are 74 faculty members in the college, including 18 professors and 28 associate professors, 6 doctoral supervisors and 45 tutors, and 9 part-time teachers as doctoral supervisors.
The college has 3 departments: Department of Preventive Medicine, Department of Health Inspection and Quarantine and Department of Medical Experimental Technology. It also has one experimental center, one provincial level key laboratory, one Hebei 2011Collaborative Innovation Center and one Institute of Occupational Health and Safety Science. Public Health and Preventive Medicine is the authorized discipline of doctor’s degree and master’s degree, and the ‘National Double First-class’ construction discipline in Hebei Province. Occupational and Environmental Health, the key discipline of the college, is the training station for doctoral students of China Medical University. The Coal System Branch of Chinese Preventive Medical Association and the Occupational Epidemiology Group of the Labor Hygiene and Occupational Diseases branch of the Chinese Preventive Medical Association are all affiliated to the college.
In recent five years, the college has undertaken 29 national scientific research projects, 72 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, achieved 28 provincial level scientific and technological progress awards, 7 teaching achievement awards and 55 scientific research achievements and has published 896 academic papers, 39 textbooks or monographs.
In the student management, the college implements the education concept of ‘student-oriented’, adheres to the ideological and political education as the main line, pays close attention to the construction of study style, strengthens the education guidance and the daily management, and strives to create a good atmosphere for education. In the past three years, the postgraduate entrance examination rate has reached 47.6%, and the average employment rate has reached 99.3%.
