College of Stomatology
Overview
College of Stomatology in North China University of Science and Technology have more than 70 faculty members, including 6 professors and chief physicians, 7 associate professors and associate chief physicians, 1 academician of the International College of Dentistry (ICD), 5 doctors and post-doctoral fellows, 3 PhD candidates and 28 masters. It has the right to grant a master’s degree in Clinical Science of Stomatology and has 11 postgraduate tutors, 301 undergraduates and 86 postgraduates. The College of Stomatology and Stomatological Hospital implemented the management model of “unified management of the school and hospital”. The dental complex of the new campus has been put into use. And more than ten million yuan has been invested to build 4 dental skills laboratories, pre-clinical laboratories, dental materials laboratory and dental biology engineering laboratory.
College of Stomatology has six teaching and research sections including teaching and student office, postgraduate management office, and oral and maxillofacial surgery office. Its oral implant restoration experimental teaching platform and oral and maxillofacial trauma tissue restoration platform are supported by the central government, and the digital teaching simulation virtual laboratory is a key university supporting project. The college has advanced instruments and equipment such as Nobel implant system, root canal microscope, Olympus computer colorimeter, research-grade digital microscope, painless anesthesia machine, Digital sharing teaching system and so on. Students can fully simulate clinical operations on the 1:1 imitated head model.
The Stomatological Hospital has 52 comprehensive treatment chairs, 10 clinical departments including VIP and implant centers, and receives more than 50,000 patients annually. It implements digital network management, which can meet the clinical introduction requirements for undergraduates and graduate students. Our college is a master's degree granting point in Dental Clinical Medicine, which is the key discipline of this university. What’s more, Oral Medicine is a provincial-level excellent course; Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Prosthodontics, and Oral Histopathology are college-level excellent courses. The college has undertaken more than 20 projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Provincial Natural Science Foundation of China. In addition, it published more than 200 scientific research papers which include more than 20 SCI articles and 6 compiled textbooks and won 17 scientific research awards at the provincial, ministerial and municipal level. The young teachers of our college won the first prize of the National Basic Teaching Skills Competition of Medical Colleges. The average employment rate of undergraduates in the college in the past three years has reached 100%, and the postgraduate entrance examination rate has reached 39.6%.
Stomatology
Stomatology is a first-level discipline and a highly practical specialty. With the development of social economy and the continuous improvement of people’s living standards, stomatology is receiving more and more attention in the fields like teaching, scientific research, clinic, and prevention. The continuous update of new materials, new technologies, and high-end equipment shows the brighter future of the discipline.
Training objectives: To cultivate stomatology versatile talents with high professional ethics, humanitarian spirits and aesthetics. And they should master solid medical basic theories and clinical diagnosis and treatment skills. What’s more, they should have strong foreign language application ability, lifelong learning ability and creative thinking ability. In addition, they should also have good scientific research awareness and clinical work ability, and be able to work in dental medicine, teaching, research and prevention after graduation.
Main courses: Human Anatomy, Histology and Embryology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathological Anatomy, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oral Anatomy and Physiology, Oral Histopathology, Endodontics, Periodontology, Prosthodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Mucosal Diseases, Pediatric Stomatology, Orthodontics, Oral Preventive Medicine.
