Overview
Founded in 2007, Yisheng College of North China University of Science and Technology is an educational platform for elite training of outstanding undergraduates. It is named after Mao Yisheng, a famous bridge engineer, engineering educator and honorary president of our university. North China University of Science and Technology is one of 13 colleges and universities nationwide that have been the members of The Mao Yisheng Science and Technology Education Foundation.
Adhering to the fundamental task of morality education, the college follows the development trend of higher education, actively explores the education mode of multidisciplinary integration, promotes professional integration and interdisciplinary education, enhances university-enterprise cooperation, cooperative education and carries out innovation, new mode, new system, new standard, new technology, new evaluation and excellent cultural aspects such as reform and construction. Besides, the college establishes brand consciousness, characteristic consciousness and innovation consciousness. Based in Hebei and facing the whole country, the college aims to cultivate interdisciplinary talents of "new medicine, new engineering and new liberal arts" for the economic and social development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, so as to enhance the social influence of the university.
Yisheng College pays attention to education and promotion of Mao Yisheng's spirit, highlights the cultivation of personality and ideological morality; pays attention to the cultivation of students' humanistic quality, scientific quality, innovation ability, big data, artificial intelligence and other aspects; implements the "whole process, full coverage" double tutorial system and teaching in small classes; builds an innovation platform for interdisciplinary talent training and strengthens innovation and collaborative education. Over the past 4 years, innovation education implemented the management of academic credit, a mode that students are awarded school graduation certificates, degree certificates and "Yisheng Honorary Award” after completing undergraduate studies and obtaining enough innovation credits.
Over the past 12 years, our college has achieved outstanding results in student training and was awarded provincial advanced class for 4 times. The students have been awarded the honorary title of "Top Ten Students on Campus", "Top Ten Members of the Communist Youth League" and "Campus Star" for 20 times. Ren Wenwu, a graduate of 2019, was shortlisted as the "Person of the Year of the 13th Chinese College Student". Zhu Yinghao, a graduate of 2017, was named as the "Diligent and Ambitious" young man of Hebei Province. In addition, students have won more than 630 provincial discipline competition prizes, and completed 268 undergraduate innovation and entrepreneurship training programs, including 30 at the national level and 75 at the provincial level, 65 projects applied for "Challenge Cup", "Investigation in Hebei" and "Innovation and Youth". Relying on teachers' scientific research and great innovation projects, students have published 324 papers in various academic journals, including EI18 and SCI18. They also have been granted more than 50 patents and 9 software copyrights. The graduate entrance examination admission rate reached 50%, and the graduate employment development prospect is broad.
